To show the center of gravity (also referred to as the center of mass) in a draft view within
Solid Edge, you can follow these steps:
1. Right Mouse Click on the View: In your draft document, right-click on the view for
which you want to display the center of gravity.
2. Select Properties: From the context menu, select "Properties."
3. Display Tab: In the Properties dialog box, navigate to the "Display" tab.
4. Parts List Options: Click on the "Parts List Options" button at the top of the dialog
box.
5. List Coordinate Systems: Select "List Coordinate Systems" from the options
provided. This will allow you to see the center of mass in the parts list tree.
6. Select Center of Mass: Under the assembly in the Parts List tree, you should see
the "Center of Mass" listed. Select it and check the "Show" box.
7. Apply and OK: Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the dialog box.
8. Update the View: After applying these changes, update the view. The center of
mass should now be displayed as a small dot in the view.
Alternatively, you can also use the 'Center of Mass and Coordinate System Block' to show a
symbol in the draft. To do this:
1. Go to Solid Edge Options > Annotation.
2. Select the block for 'Center of Mass'.
3. Click "Apply" and then "OK".
4. Update your drawing view.
Solid Edge provides a default block named "COM" for displaying the center of mass or
coordinate system in a drawing view, which is included in the draft templates. You also
have the option to create your own custom blocks with specific graphics if needed.
Remember, the center of mass calculation is based on the physical properties of the
model, such as material density. Ensure that these properties are correctly defined in your
model for an accurate center of mass.
