The following cursors appear in the graphics window and indicate how you can interact with the model.
Arrow Point

Arrow Point
The basic NX cursor, used for selecting menu and dialog options. No selection or position tracking. Cannot interact with the model in the graphics window.
Position

Position
Indicates positions in free space, but object selection is not available.
Select

Select (Large)

Select (Medium)
The circle indicates that you can move over an object such as a line and "pre-select" it. Pre-selection means that an object is potentially selectable. NX highlights the object when it is pre-selected.

Select (Small)

Select While Multiple Objects are Available
The three dots indicate that, at the current location, multiple objects are potentially selectable. If you click to select an object, NX opens the QuickPick dialog box, allowing you to specify which object to select.
Drag

Drag
The system displays this cursor while you drag an object or objects in detached or pre-selected mode.

Drag with Selection (Large)
The circle indicates that you can move over an object such as a line and "pre-select" it. Pre-selection means that an object is potentially selectable. NX highlights the object when it is pre-selected.

Drag with Selection (Medium)

Drag with Selection (Small)

Invalid Drag
Displays whenever you attempt an invalid drag in the graphics window. Dragging can be invalid when no drag gestures (handle, object, detached drag, rectangle selection, drag path) are enabled or you are currently pressing an invalid modifier key combination.

Drag Path
Displays when detecting candidate objects (as filtered by the current operation) along the drag path. Used by Quick Trim and Fillet. Implemented as a "crayon" line that reflects the path of the cursor while being dragged.
Drag with Pre-Selection

Drag with Pre-Selection (Large)
The circle indicates that you can move over an object such as a line and "pre-select" it. Pre-selection means that an object is potentially selectable. NX highlights the object when it is pre-selected. The arrow on the upper-right indicates that the (highlighted) object over which the cursor is positioned is draggable. If you click MB1 and drag, it drags the highlighted object. You can drag handles or objects. NX presents this cursor to select and drag objects.

Drag with Pre-Selection (Medium)

Drag with Pre-Selection (Small)

Drag While Multiple Objects are Available
The three dots indicate that, at the current location, multiple objects are potentially selectable. If you click to select an object, NX opens the QuickPick dialog, allowing you to specify which object you want to select.
Detached Drag

Detached Drag, No Selection
You can position the cursor anywhere and drag the currently selected objects.

Detached Drag with Selection (Large)
The circle indicates that you can move over an object such as a line and "pre-select" it. Pre-selection means that an object is potentially selectable. NX highlights the object when it is pre-selected. The perpendicular arrows on the upper-right indicate that a detached drag is possible. This means that if you drag from the current cursor location, you will drag the currently selected objects. Therefore, you can easily select objects and drag them from any cursor location.

Detached Drag with Selection (Medium)

Detached Drag with Selection (Small)

Detached Drag & Selection & Multiple Objects
Indicates that multiple objects are selectable and you can perform a detached drag.

Detached Drag with Position Input, No Selection
Indicates that you can drag the selected objects or indicate a screen position in the graphics window.
Dynamic Viewing

Rotate
Indicates that you can rotate a view.

Navigation
Indicates Free Navigation Mode. Use this mode to easily fly through a view of a shaded or wireframe model. You can spontaneously control all movement using the mouse and/or keyboard. You do not have to first define a flight path trajectory, as you do with Guided Navigation.

Pan
Indicates Pan mode.

"Rectangle" Zoom
Indicates Zoom mode. Use Zoom to scale the entire part by zooming in or out of the view.

Zoom In/Out
Indicates Zoom In/Out mode. Use Zoom In/Out to incrementally scale the entire part by zooming in or out of the view. NX dynamically updates the view as you move the cursor.
