FAQ - NX license borrowing
The following information was obtained from the GTAC website to answer frequently asked questions about the NX license borrowing.

Answers
(1) HOW to borrow:
a. From the Windows Start menu launch the NX Licensing Tool
b. Select BUNDLE SETTINGS. Then select the bundle(s) related to the items that you want to BORROW.
c. Select BORROWING SETTINGS. Then select those items you want to borrow.
d. Set Return Date - use pull-down and calendar to select the date you want to RETURN the borrowed seat to the license server.
(2) Conditions to BORROW and RETURN EARLY:
The client machine MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE LICENSE SERVER MACHINE to perform the act of;
a. BORROWING
b. RETURNING EARLY
c. In other words, a user CANNOT BORROW or RETURN EARLY when their client is disconnected or away from the license server machine.
(3) How borrowing works:
Once the user borrows and declares a RETURN DATE, the RETURN occurs AUTOMATICALLY on BOTH the license server machine AND client machine
who borrowed, once that return date arrives.
Therefore, after the RETURN DATE is reached;
a. The license server knows to RECLAIM the borrowed seat.
b. The client knows to RETURN the borrowed seat and if beyond the
return date, that client WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN NX AT THAT
POINT.
NOTE - a BORROWED seat represents an occupied seat as far as the license
server is concerned. Therefore, during the user's borrowing period,
that license server has 1 LESS SEAT (of whatever features the
borrowing user claimed) available to other users.
(4) WHAT IF contingencies:
a. WHAT IF I borrow for 7 days but while away, learn I will be away for
10 days?
Ans - OVER BORROW or OVER ESTIMATE THE BORROWING PERIOD.
If you return earlier than expected (and time remains on the
borrowing period declared), simply connect the client to the
license server and RETURN EARLY.
b. WHAT IF I borrow for two weeks, but lose the laptop client AND come
back early. What do I do knowing the seat is still tied up and I
don't have the client to connect to the license server and perform
a RETURN EARLY procedure?
Ans - CALL GTAC and we will ask for your active license file.
We will have a CLEAR BORROW license file generated against it and
send it back to you.
You will then perform what is called a CLEAR BORROW procedure,
a task performed on the license server machine as well as all clients who
have borrowed or tried to borrow - THIS WILL CLEAN THE SLATE OF THE
HUNG OR OCCUPIED BORROWED SEAT. In context of this question,
the license server will have a clean slate, no longer accounting for an
occupied seat which has yet to be returned by the borrowing client who is
not available.
