A baker’s dozen of tips and tricks Part 1 – from 2018 SEU events

John Pearson - Tuesday, January 01, 2019

This year, Designfusion hosted and participated in 5 Solid Edge University events. Starting with SEU Toronto, and followed by SEU Montreal, and then our 2-Day SEU event in Chicago. We then ran two events called the “Best of SEU 2018” in Olds, Alberta and Winnipeg, Manitoba. One of the most popular sessions was our Tips and Tricks session. For those of you who missed one of these events, we offer you this blog which covers the tips and tricks session.

  • 1.Clean out your windows temp folder.
  •

To do this, you want to delete all the files in the C:\Users\[username]\AppData\ Local\Temp folder. Where [username] is the name that you use to log in to windows. You will need administrator privileges.

Note: If you can't find the AppData folder, you have to go to the View tab and select Options. In the Folder Options dialog, go to the View tab and make sure that you toggle on the Show hidden files, folders, and drives option.

Select all the files in the temp folder using the Ctrl+A keys, and then hit the Delete key. You’ll be prompted with the following message:

Click Yes. Don’t worry, Windows will not let you delete any files that it still needs. If Windows still requires a file, you will get the following message:

Toggle on the “Do this for all current items” option and click Skip.

If Windows still requires a folder, you will get the following message:

Toggle on the “Do this for all current items” option and click Skip.

Note: Once this task is complete, I would suggest that you also empty your Recycle Bin.

  • 2.Keep your drivers up to date.
  •

This becomes obvious when new versions of software are installed. Especially with graphic performance. Keeping your graphic card, and hardware, drivers up to date will eliminate most of these issues.

Demo 1A: Move and rotate faces.

Demo 1B: Move and rotate faces with the steering wheel.

Demo 2: Multi-Body parts and features.

Auto scroll assembly pathfinder

When checked, the assembly PathFinder scrolls to the component selected in the assembly window.

Demo 3: Using the Assembly Relationship Manager

Demo 4: Using Pack and Go.

Demo 5: Create a simple variable table motor.

This concludes Part one of this Blog. Look for Part 2, coming soon.

Join us at the annual New York State Regional Users Group meeting

John Pearson - Wednesday, September 24, 2014

Designfusion is proud to be a sponsor and major contributor to this year’s New York State RUG meeting. This year’s meeting will be held at the RIT Inn & Conference Center in Rochester NY, on October 7, 2014. All users are invited, even those who live outside of New York State. Designfusion will be presenting at 8 of the 35 planned seminars.  Our focus this year is Solid Edge and Teamcenter Administration, however there are plenty of other presentations for all attending, as you can see from the agenda below.

Not only is this a great learning opportunity, but it’s also a chance to meet and network with other users and some of the people who support your Siemens’ PLM software.

There is a small fee to attend this event, and you must register in advance. You can do this online at http://www.plmworld.org/new_yorkrugevent.  This site will provide you with all the details of the conference and directions to RIT Inn &

Conference Center. We hope to see you there, and don’t forget to drop by the Designfusion booth in the sponsor’s area.
